Why Stanley Cup Champion Colin Fraser Says He Would Have Benefited from Scoolu

On Friday September 20th, Scoolu hockey coach and three-time Stanley Cup Champion, Colin Fraser went live on The Sports Circus Radio Show.

During his guest appearance, Colin talked about his professional hockey experience and how Scoolu’s skill development coaches would have helped him as a player.

About Colin Fraser

 Colin Fraser grew up playing hockey in the west coast of Canada and made his way to the big leagues in 2003 when he was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the NHL Entry Draft.

During his NHL career, Colin got the chance to play for the Chicago Blackhawks, Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings and the St. Louis Blues, winning the notorious Stanley Cup once with the Blackhawks in 2010 and twice with the LA Kings in 2012 and 2014.

After retiring as a player, Colin continued to follow his love for the game, working for the Chicago Blackhawks organization and becoming an investor and hockey skills development coach with Scoolu.

What is Scoolu?

“Scoolu is a platform online that connects not just pro players or aspiring pro players, but anybody who wants access to the best coaches in their field.” Colin explained to The Sports Circus’ host Sal Tuzzolino.

 When asked what prompted him to get involved with Scoolu, Colin talked about one of his major regrets as an NHL player.

“One of the regrets I have as a player in the NHL is not investing in myself more. So, once I made the NHL I was satisfied with where I was at. I was in the big leagues and that’s all I needed to do. Well why couldn’t I hire a skills coach, hire a skating coach, hire a mental skills coach and make myself even better and try to make more money and try to stay in the league longer?” Colin told The Sports Circus.

When Tuzzolino then asked how exactly Scoolu works, Colin explained the advantages of the platform.

“What we do is build these packages. You can spend as little or as much as you want based on what you’re looking for.”

No Limitation

Colin mentioned to The Sports Circus audience that Scoolu is not just limited to hockey and that students are not just limited to one coach either;

“Maybe you’re a hockey guy and you want to hire Ron Johnson. He worked with Patrick Marleau and Joe Pavelski and Josh Manson, among others, but you want the strength coach and the mental skills coach on top of it. You can meet and talk and hangout with all three of these guys.”

 “I believe in it because I think it’s something that I missed when I was a pro. I should have been hiring Ron Johnson or Dominique Pettis or Ian Mack or Shaun Goodsell, who does mental skills. I should have been hiring these guys to maximize my potential as a NHLer and I should have been doing it long before I made the NHL.”
